I am a registered occupational therapist with a Masters degree and over 16 years occupational therapy experience. I have postgraduate training in sensory integration and I specialise in working with children and young people with autism, ADHD and sensory processing difficulties.
I am a mum of two autistic children, one attends a special school and one is home educated. Being a mum is very important to me and I am continually learning from my amazing children.
I absolutely love supporting parents to better understand their child's sensory needs! I enjoy seeing how my assessment findings, training and coaching enables a family and school to make changes that make such a difference to their child's life as well as to the wellbeing of the whole family. If you need help to understand exactly what is going on for your child and what you can do to support them to be happier then you've come to the right place.
Children's occupational therapists (OTs) help a child to overcome challenges so that they can participate more fully in home, school and community life. They look at the child's skills and environment to see what is a barrier to the child growing, learning, playing, socialising and having fun. Barriers include sensory challenges (such as a need to be constantly on the move, difficulty tolerating haircuts, toothbrushing and noise), emotional and sensory regulation (getting upset, anxious or angry easily or difficulty with attention and focus) and motor skills (difficulty with reading writing, PE skills, getting dressed, riding a bike, tying laces etc). The occupational therapist then makes recommendations on how the environment can be adapted and how the child's skills can be developed to enable improved wellbeing and participation in daily life.
Understanding and implementing complex clinical information about your child can be overwhelming. As someone who has worked with numerous families and has personally received professional reports for my own children, I know first hand the challenges it brings. It's not just about comprehending all the details; it's also about successfully incorporating the recommended changes and strategies at home and in school. Often, when revisiting the report months later, you realise the significance of certain sections, but have forgotten the professional's explanation. You may have questions that you wish you had asked, but it's too late. It becomes evident that many of the recommended changes haven't been effectively implemented, leaving you wondering how to make it all work in reality.
Let me introduce Sensory Success, an assessment package designed to address these exact concerns. With Sensory Success, you'll not only gain a clear understanding of the report information, but you'll also receive dedicated support from me over the course of six months to help you implement the recommendations and overcome any challenges that arise. Additionally, you'll have the invaluable opportunity to join a close-knit community of parents who are going through similar difficulties.

Sensory Confidence is a 6 month online programme that combines in-depth sensory training with membership to my close-knit community where you will be supported on your journey. You will understand why your child is behaving in a particular way and discover exactly what you can do to help them feel happier. Whilst you work through the training at your own pace, you will be invited to attend monthly group question and answer sessions with me, post questions in the group, explore sensory activity ideas and benefit from being part of a supportive community of parents who are going through similar difficulties. Click here for more information and to start your journey towards feeling so much more confident about your child's sensory needs.
I offer half day sensory training (face to face or online) for schools, parent groups and care providers. The training can be during the day or split into 2 x twilight or evening sessions if preferred. The training starts with an introduction to sensory processing but covers much more! A sensory activities resource pack is also included. Click here for more information.
